Cedar Island Lake is in White Lake Township in Oakland County MI. It is not a huge lake, it is only about 169 acres in size or only 134 acres in size depending on which source you chose to believe. Again depending on which size it is it is either the 32nd or 38th largest lake in Oakland County. I would say the lake is U-shaped with 3 or four different canals. It is a lake that is very nice to take a pontoon ride on because there are many different areas to explore and show your guests when they come to visit.
Lakefront homes on Cedar Island Lake vary quite a bit. There are still some old 800 to 1000 square foot cottages on the lake. There are also several large estate sized homes on the lake that if they were up for sale most likely would be priced at over a million dollars. I myself love Cedar Island Lake. I have spent many hours on the lake with friends. I have skied and knee boarded on the lake many times.
Cedar Island Lake has two deep holes over 70' deep and another hole that is over 51' deep. Much of the lake is relatively shallow probably averaging between 10 and 12 feet deep. During the week like many Oakland County Lakes there is very little boat traffic, but during the weekends the lake can get quite busy. Cedar Island Lake in White Lake Township is a public all sports lake. It does have a DNR lake access ramp that only can accommodate a few cars. They say only four, but even that would be crowded.
Cedar Island Lake association puts on a great 4 of July fireworks show each year. The lake does get crowded for the fireworks. They close the boat ramp the day before to keep too many people from coming on the lake for the fireworks.
Like so many Oakland County Michigan lakes there are several spots on the lake where the lake residents gather. There is one spot on the lake where it is really shallow where most of the young people gather. There is a volley ball net set up in the water for everybody to play.
